Bob-Lost 12 days and Found 12 miles away
Lost 3/11
Bob, a one year old Shepherd Mix, was lost in the afternoon in east nashville around Shelby Park. We have an underground fence and his collar and transmitter broke so he doesn’t have any tags or anything on.
Found 3/23
He was 12 miles away across the river in Donelson. I never thought to look that far away. His picture was posted on a Donelson rescue group site and someone recognized him from the craigslist lost & found. He had been camping out in a woman’s backyard who was so nice she fed him, gave him blankets and a warm place to sleep. She said she finally had to call MACC yesterday because he was crying & howling at night. She said she felt terrible about it but when the dog catcher came (twice) he couldn’t catch him. Someone from that neighborhood said they had seen the MACC truck so I went out there. That’s when we put it all together that it was him and they told me where he was. I walked up to the house and he was sitting right there. The lady at the house said look he’s so happy to see you he’s hugging you & we both started bawling haha. She said I knew someone loves him & had to be looking for him. I’m so grateful to have him back & so is his sister. I’m grateful to everyone that helped me get his picture & story out there.
Update & Lessons Learned
Bob is now neutered, chipped & has a personalized collar. I should have done all that before he got lost. I know that everything he & his sister went through is my fault so I hope by sharing this story it will convince others to do it sooner than I did.
