“This sweet boy is Bruce.  He was found wondering in East Nashville with a large leather belt around his neck and dragging a huge chain.  The hair around his neck was gone and he was infested with fleas and dirty.  He would not eat and was very afraid of lots of things and noises.

This is Bruce today!  A healthy and happy young man – probably around a year and a half.  He is fully grown now and probably weighs around 40 – 45 lbs.  He is just the sweetest thing.  He loves to sleep on the couch – his appetite is what it should be now and many of his fears no longer exist.

He is fully vetted and neutered – heartworm negative and just so anxious to find a forever home.   He is good with other dogs and children.  He has not been introduced to cats – but his temperament should allow him to adjust to them as well.   Bruce is one of the “WONDER” dogs we call them.  It is a WONDER they survived the conditions they came from - it is a WONDER that they have turned out to be such a great pet and he will be a WONDER-FUL addition to your family.”

Shepherd breeds are intelligent and enjoy exercise! I have spent much of my life at NHA and thus haven’t been exposed to a lot of children or other pets. I tend to play rough so I am not the best fit for small children. I will also need to meet any other dogs you may already have at home prior to being adopted. I have a lot of potential, just give me a chance.

I love other cats, kids, and dogs, and I’m the official greeter whenever anyone comes home. I love to sit on window ledges and watch birds, and of course be a lap warmer during TV time! I’m also quite helpful, as I assist my foster mom when she folds clothes and does other household chores.”

I have been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and am up to date on my vaccinations.”

LFS has cared for Roman since he was 2 months old! “It’s hard to believe that someone hasn’t adopted me yet.  For the life of me I can’t understand why?.  I mean I’m the total package.  I have the good looks, the awesome charm, and a wonderful personality. I LOVE kids and all other animals.  I would do well with people of all ages.  However, keep in mind I am still a puppy and need to learn my manners.  I know if you give me a chance you won’t regret it.  Come take me home today.”

Roman has been at Murphy Road Hospital, healing from a broken foot. LFS says “He is such a great guy. The Dr. believes he broke his foot when he was a tiny newborn and it healed but healed incorrectly and then he re broke it.  Once the foot is healed he shouldn’t have any further issues.”

I should grow up to weigh between 45 and 65 pound. I have the prettiest chocolate coat which makes me very unique. I love to play with my frisbee, it is definitely my favorite toy so I think that one day I might be really good at fetch! I am sure to be a great dog when I grow up so come in and make me the newest addition to your family!

“Meet Tyler. He is 1 of 8 puppies brought to us by animal control. He and his siblings: Jenna, Jeremy, and Elena (to name just a few), were in foster care with their momma Karen. Tyler and his siblings are now old enough to be in a shelter environment so come on down and meet them! They all appear to be either Beagle or Beagle/Heeler mixes. Tyler looks more Beagle than anything with his black/tan coloring and big floppy ears! He is 5.6 pounds and is almost three months old. Tyler will be neutered, microchipped and age appropriately vaccinated prior to adoption. Tyler and littermates are $135 each.”

I’ve been an animal lover my whole life and aspired to have my own business one day. I envisioned a petfriendly restaurant with a separate pet store beside, pet daycare in back with a special self serve bath station, and some guest rooms upstairs to make it petfriendly B&B. Drop off your dog on the way to work and pick up breakfast at the same time. How great does that sound?

Well I am the only sibling in my family without an MBA. My background is in education and after sharing my dream with my sister she practically pointed out that there were about 5 businesses I mentioned and it would be best to start with one. All this is to say is the dream is still alive. However, at this juncture in my life where I am busy each day raising/chasing two young children my ability to help make a difference for people and their pets needs to be approached differently.

While there are already tons of websites in existence assisting adoption and reunification and providing education and local resources, I still want to do my part. I am not in it for any monetary gain. I just want to utilize my passion to help make a difference in the world and if I can help just one person or animal it will be worth it.

Along these pages, you will get to know me in ways some people have never witnessed. The mission of this website is to help empower people to make a difference for animals through education, awareness and stories. I hope you will join me on the adventure and share in a promising future.

Each week the website will feature a local pet for adoption, a news article, inspiring story and a rescue blog. You will also find a helpful lost and found section with a lost and found board and email services to spread the word about missing pets. The local resource page boasts a directory for all things pet in middle tennessee including a free business directory. Lastly, there is a pet memorial section to honor those furry friends who have passed.
